Consider that I'm a bachelor so I don't really need to buy 18 gallon jars of mayo. Is it worth it?

Yes. The odds and ends you aren't buying in bulk are really good deals too. Furniture, outdoor stuff, seasonal things (coolers, sunscreen, etc) and the bakery is legit. They sell individually packaged steaks, and chicken so you can buy a chunk at a good deal and defrost and use as you need. Comes in handy in the summer especially.

Plus, the free samples make for a hearty lunch.

I don't want UPS delivering me deli meat from Amazon.
Isn't this what Whole Foods is for? Plus that place is always packed with girls.

Awesome for everyone who doesn't mind spending $1K to grab 4 items from Whole Foods.
Also, I dunno if Amazon will deliver cheaper-than-other-stations gas to you front door.

I think it depends on (a) how much gas you buy, and (b ) how much iffy-quality crap you buy that you don't really need. Personally, I find Amazon Prime (free shipping plus free streaming) to be a better deal. But that's just me.
Now, if you're a family of 7, the equation changes.

Yes, it's worth it.
Most of the stuff they sell is at least decent quality, and a lot of it is really good. For things like electronics they offer their own warranties--pretty much every major electronics purchase my family has made over the past 15 years, computers and TVs, has been from Costco. As others have mentioned, even if you don't need things like bulk fruit (as Family Guy taught us, only Gallagher needs to buy a 12-pack of watermelons) the meat you can buy and freeze, and things you go through quick are worth buying there. And the gas.

Costco is phenomenal, I'd totally recommend it. They have quality stuff. Plus, it's my understanding that they're pretty good to their employees, if you're into that sort of thing.
