That was great Rob.  Just great.

A fantastic tribute to your Son, and Father.

It is hard to believe it's been 19 years.

The best to you and Linds.

Dude, just, dude. That was beautiful man.

My Father died before my son was born as well, and there are SO MANY times I'll be talking Baseball with Drew (son), and it reminds me of the conversations I used to have with my Dad. Pass that love of the game on, its' awesome to watch.

My son at almost 10 years old can name every player in the league, and I have great Baseball talks with him. it's wonderful. No sport encourages that like Baseball does.

All the best, and good luck on Friday and beyond!

Rob, that was by far the best thing I've read this year. If I were to make a list of people who could write something that would bring a small tear to my eye I'm guessing you wouldn't have been high on the list - but you did it. This was a great birthday present for your Dad.

My son was also born after my father died. They missed each other by a little more than ten years.

There are going to be so many days, so many situations that are going to remind you of your father. It's a beautiful thing and a real gift for guys like us.

Beautiful, Rob. Congrats to you guys on your new addition.

I just got married, and we want to wait another year or so before we have kids, but I cant wait to do those things our dads did for us, for my kids.

Wonderfully done... thanks for that...

How old were you when he died?   Did he drag you to Civil War places?   Did you catch any of his interest in that?  Did he have any habitual phrases or mannerisms that stick with you?  Did he have any pet peeves?  Could he tell you details about his work, or was that against the rules?

1) 16
2) I went to a few battlefields...Gettysburg and Antietam..saw Ft Sumter as well.
3) Somewhat...but not until after he died. He loved the movie Glory..I do too..too bad I never got into that with him though.
4) Not really. Just the whole package.
5) Nothing is jumping to mind.
6) He could...but then he would have to kill me. Lol. I wish I knew some of what he knew. He would hate to see what has happened to this country and this world though.

Losing your dad at 16 must have been devastating. It is hard enough later in life.

Lost my dad at 26. Still think about him all the time. Especially during baseball season.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Probably not the last time the little guy screws up your plans.

Congrats and good luck!  Hope everyone is doing well.

Get used to it... you're now on baby-time, not on whatever schedule you had planned   ;-)

Good luck...

No one made a joke about how his baby already traded his birthday around?  Come on Cerrano.

I was gonna say something about "deadline deals", given how Rob had the whole thing scheduled...but I decided not to for fear he might take it out on the kid...
