Callis ranked him the 99th best player IN TEXAS!
WTF?
Couldn't do better than this?
This is a relatively frustrating day 2 thus far.

Note that Callis is one guy. Opinions on players vary wildly. Supposedly throws high 80s to low 90s as a lefty

Right now, Poche may well be only the 99th best player in Texas, but 3 years from now, he will be better than 90 of them (assuming he fills out his frame).
He's only throwing high 80's, low 90's right now, but with some muscle, he'll throw consistently in the low-to-mid 90's. He has 2 good secondary pitches. It's a good pick if they can pry him from Arkansas and let him take his time working his way through the system.
However, I agree that the 2nd day has been kind of up and down so far. I love the Marin and Walker picks, hate the Kline pick, and am only so-so on the Poche pick.

I like the Marin, Price and Walker picks.Stotle has our #2 (Kline) #4 (Walker) and #6 (Rutledge) all as targets for the 2-5 rounds. Marin seems to have some supporters as well with some optimistic writeups. You seem to think you can get some "sure thing" in these rounds. What's your beef?
This pick isn't good although maybe the projection is there.
I like Kline, just not in round 2.
Jon over at Camden Depot(crawdaddy, works with Nick) doesn't mind Kline in R2. They have seen him, I haven't. Just doesn't sound like an upside pick there.

Jon is registered here 'Shepherd', does great work. This is the type of guy the O's should be drafting and developing.

I read the same thing, (99th best player in Texas) but Callis is just one view. We pay scouts to find players so maybe our projections on this guy were different than Callis. They actually are seeing these guys while we are reading scouting reports some which are dated.
That said, a few do seem like reaches. Time will tell.
