My top 5:

1. Walkmen, You & Me

2. Arcade Fire, Funeral

3. Radiohead, In Rainbows

4. The Strokes, Is This It

5. The National, Boxer

I feel like everyone has a band that feels like the music is meant specifically for them...The Walkmen were that for me.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Never got into the Walkmen but I've heard good things.  The lead singer of The National is full of himself and In Rainbows over Kid A has to be considered a mega-upset.

Love Kid A but In Rainbows is a much easier listen.

This is very true.  Kid A might be the least-accessible great album ever.

How to Disappear Completely might be their best song ever.

Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was so good....never really got into Wilco outside of that album. I downloaded it on Napster or KaZaa back in the day shortly after 9/11 -- it was the perfect time to discover that album.

Not a big "modern music" guy, but I'm a big John Mayer fan. Each one of his albums is extremely unique. Room for Squares was more pop, Heavier Things blended the pop into more rock. Continuum was really jazzy, and Battle Studies was bluesy. Not to mention his two latest albums (Born and Raised and Paradise Valley) which are very folky and add elements of bluegrass.

He may be a egotistical ass, but Mayer is one of, if not the best guitarist of my generation. Incredibly versatile.

H2O- Nothing to prove

Bouncing Souls- How I spent my summer

Gaslight Anthem- The 59' sound

The Strokes- This is it

Madball-Hold it Down

Mos Def- The New Danger

Talib Kweli- The Beautiful Struggle

Outcast- Bombs over baghdad

Clipse- Grindin

Johnny Cash- American IV (He just proves if he was in any band it would be an upgrade over who they had)

I could keep going but this is my list of 00's and what I listened to the most.

I won't make a whole list because that would require too much thought from my currently drunk mind, and there's just too much good music, but I haven't seen this one mentioned...
