Randy Edsall said that he'd like to see a trophy added to this series. I think that'd be cool. I always said Penn State would be Maryland's Big Ten football rivals. Recruiting, proximity, and the fact that so many PSU grads live in Maryland makes it a natural rivalry. I always said I'd like to see the Terps revisit the rivalry with Navy. Make it an every-year thing. But until that happens, PSU is a great close rivalry to have.

Forget the previous results. That was 21 years ago. Maryland is 1-0 against PSU. Looking forward to next year's game at M&T Bank Stadium.

I'd look forward to it more if it was on campus. (yes, I get the reason they are doing it)

I'd tend to agree, but they do get Michigan and Wisconsin at home next season. 4 of their first 5 games are at Byrd as well. I'm looking forward to it personally because I've never actually seen a game in M&T Bank. Been to a few Ravens practices, but never a game. But I get where people would like it to be on campus.

Not a rivalry based on one poorly played game. As for the proximity people keep bringing up, these schools are 3 and a half hours away, so that's nothing special at all. It is easily better than the other B10 schools besides Rutgers, though.

I think it's a bit different in college sports with the "border wars" than it is in the professional ranks in this aspect. But yeah not a rivalry yet.

I wouldn't mind as much if it was OOC game, I think all in-conference games should be at home. We've talked about this subject enough, if UMD ever wants to be taken seriously as a football program, they'll play all their home games atleast the in-conference ones at Byrd.

The problem, which likely isn't going to go away anytime soon, is that Byrd is 12th of 14 Big Ten stadiums in capacity. Only Minnesota (TCF Bank Stadium) and Northwestern (Ryan Field) are smaller. Plus, there are two stadiums of significantly higher capacity close by, with more amenities than Byrd has. So until they get around to a major overhaul of Byrd (bigger than rebuilding the tower or just throwing a few more seats in there) I suspect this is what we will see. Honestly, if the program actually does become a conference and championship contender, it may happen even more often.

When talks were revisited about the indoor practice facility before the season, some capacity-increasing ideas were thrown around. One was to tear down the 300-level across from Tyser and extend the 200-level across, creating a full horseshoe. But I'd argue that Maryland doesn't need a stadium much bigger than Byrd. I'd really like to see the two-level horseshoe happen, since I think that'd look a little nicer than the two big monstrosities (300-level and Tyser) across from each other, with holes on either end.

What they really should have done before anything is lower the field level several feet when they put the turf in a couple years ago. Then instead of selling all those seats in the first few rows at a discount due to obstructed views, they could sell them at a premium.

I'd also leave the 200 and 300 Levels mostly as-is, but do a refurbishing of the 200 Level seating and concourse to make it more of a "Club Level" style. That's where the money is nowadays. If the need ever arises to expand general seating capacity, then just build an upper level in the West end zone.

They don't need a stadium much bigger than Byrd, at least at the current level of the program. However, that also means that big games are going to be played elsewhere.

So what bowl game(s) are we looking at?  I'd kill for the SF area bowl so I could go without traveling.  Party at my place on NYE!

Oops.

JUST IN: #B1G issues public reprimand of Randy Edsall, suspends Stefon Diggs one game and fines Maryland $10K.

It's laughable that Diggs and Winston have been suspended for the same amount of games this year.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Heard this morning that Diggs has a lacerated kidney and is out for the remainder of the year.

Decent source on this but has anyone else heard this?

I'll keep an ear out but I haven't heard that yet.

That'd be brutal.

There are reports out there about him having suffered an injury during the game... this is the first I've heard about something specific.

Yeah, haven't heard anything specific but I'm sure we'll find out soon. That'd be absolutely brutal for him and the team.

Testudo Times: Recruits react to handshake controversy, Maryland's win vs. Penn State

http://www.testudoti...tions-handshake

If James Franklin’s perpetual comments about Maryland’s fertile recruiting grounds or Randy Edsall’s postgame interview didn’t make it abundantly clear, the Twitter feeds and reactions of some Terps targets did — this was a big weekend for the Terps in terms of recruiting.

Washington Post: Maryland WR Stefon Diggs has midsection injury, status uncertain

http://www.washingto...atus-uncertain/

Maryland wide receiver Stefon Diggs suffered an injury to his midsection during Saturday’s game against Penn State, and his status is uncertain, a person close to the situation confirmed Wednesday.

Diggs suffered the injury after taking a shot to his kidney during the fourth quarter of the Terrapins’ 20-19 win over the Nittany Lions in State College, Pa. The injury occurred after Diggs had caught a pass in the red zone. He received medical attention after the play and came off the field briefly but later returned to the game. Diggs finished the game with six catches for 53 yards.
