After picking up their best road victory of the Kevin Willard era against Illinois, Maryland will travel to Evanston for a Wednesday night matchup against Northwestern. The Wildcats currently hold a 12-4 (3-2) record, with losses coming to Mississippi State, Chicago State, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Their best win came in early December, when they upset Purdue in overtime.
Chris Collins' team is led by senior guard Boo Buie, who's averaging 18 points per game while shooting 45% from the field. They're a fairly small team, with the exception of 7'0", 280 lb. center Matthew Nicholson who splits time at the position with the much smaller Nick Martinelli. Neither are particularly skilled offensively. Expect Maryland to try and exert their size inside in this game with a similar gameplan to the one they used against Illinois.
Since joining the Big Ten, Maryland is 11-3 against Northwestern. They've split their last four matchups however.
