And in the final two seasons before the current deal elapses, the NBA has introduced an artificial solution in hopes of preempting a question that will invariably come up in negotiations, something of a cultural platitude in American sports discourse: No one cares about the NBA until Christmas.
Disagree, no one (including a lot of the players) cares about the NBA until the playoffs.
Former ESPN executive John Skipper said earlier this year that he believes the NBA could see as much as a 350 percent increase in revenue compared to the previous media rights deal, which would mean a spike from an average of $2.7 billion annually to a ballpark of $8-9 billion.
Soon players will be getting $100 million a year to play 40-50 games.

The data would appear to indicate most teams/players are taking it more seriously than typical November games.

This has been a huge success imo. I realize tonight most people are watching football, but this Celtics-Pacers game is great.

I caught the end of that game. Both the player engagement and fan response had a playoff feel to it. Good to see. I hope they can sustain the momentum they created in subsequent seasons.

Tyrese Haliburton has been on an MVP trajectory this season and has put the NBA world on the map after dropping his first career triple-double in the quarterfinals of the In-Season tournament! Check out my latest article where I share my case for why Haliburton should be the league's MVP front runner.

I'll be curious to see how these games stack up in the TV ratings versus the TNF game. Probably helps the NBA that 1) TNF is on Amazon (except in the local markets) and 2) The game looks like a stinker of a matchup.

And one already happened, although at a time slot that's probably not great for ratings.
But football is king so people will probably watch a trash game over tonight's game, although the Lakers and LeBron being in it helps.
2 TV setup over here so I'll have both with basketball with the sound.

Haliburton is a ton of fun to watch and he's also special. What a steal in that draft by the Kings, but if course they later dealt him.
Since the Kings already had Fox and considering how important Sabonis has been to their success since the trade, I'd say both teams came out winners in that deal.

That's fair, but I'd say one team especially came out a winner.
