After beginning their season with a 3-0 record three years in a row for the first time since 1978-80, Maryland will play both their first conference game and first road game of the season when they travel to East Lansing on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans are a program in turmoil, approximately two weeks removed from the bombshell report that head coach Mel Tucker was the subject of a Title IX investigation due to allegations of sexual harassment. He was officially suspended before their game last weekend, with defensive backs coach Harlon Barnett promoted to interim head coach and former head coach Mark Dantonio brought back as their associate head coach.
Michigan State started the year with a 2-1 record, including a 41-7 blowout loss to Washington last weekend which saw their defense surrender a program record 713 yards. Maryland hasn't won a game in East Lansing since 1950.
Maryland opens as 6-point favorites, with ESPN giving them a 53.4% chance of winning.
